Superior Spiderman

My attempt to make Superior Spidey. It was gonna be my entry for this year Comicon Challenge but I missed the deadline. I'm still planning to finish him when I'm not busy with million other things.

Dieselpunk

I've been itching to do a new project.  I thought it'd be interesting to do some dieselpunk art.

Cancelled Mortal Kombat HD Arcade Kollection

Here's some work that I did for cancelled project "Mortal Kombat HD: Arcade Kollection".  I was responsible in creating 3D models for the animality and some of the background characters.

Mileena Head

Mileena head model for the cancelled project. The original idea was to update the ending in the second game with the new actor head. It was tricky to redesign/up-res her head for the high definition because the original picture was so small. Plus, this was before the new Mortal Kombat 9 game was out. Now that I see it again, I prefer if her eyes to be less human-like.

Stryker's Animality

Liu Kang's Fatality/Animality

Note: Trying to recreate one of the most iconic fatalities in MK universe was not an easy task. Liu Kang’s dragon had gone through multiple iterations and this one was the latest version we had. It was no mean the final version, but we were getting to the right direction.

The Magdalena Revisited

I decided to revisit one of my old project because I wasn't happy with the presentation.  Plus, I thought it's a good time to play around with the new Marmoset Toolbag and the different shaders.  I'll post the breakdown video later.  Please view it in HD to see the details better.

Monsterology - Nukotoys

Since the game has been released for a couple of months now, I can share with you guys some work I did for an app called Monsterology.  The game was originally developed by Other Ocean Interactive but was completed by Sabertooth Interactive.  Monsterology is a 3D turn-based strategy game based on the New York Times bestselling "Ology" series.  It is the first game on iOS that incorporates physical trading cards into the gameplay.  You can summon monsters and items by tapping the card onto your iOS devices.  Monsterology is available now on iTunes / App Store for iPad and iPhone as a free download.

Apart from modeling and texturing, my other responsibilities were to set a visual target for the monsters and developed the look for the corrupted (dark) and king version of the monsters.  All the models were done in Maya and all the textures were hand-painted using Photoshop and ZAppLink (ZBrush).

Here's a sample of how the model looks like in the game.  This one was taken with an iPad.  All the in-game models use 256x256 texture.

Duty Calls Sample Works

You guys may have heard a mock game that’s recently released called Duty Calls. For those who are not familiar with it, it’s basically a parody of Call of Duty games (it's not part of CoD series). The game was developed by Other Ocean Interactive and took 1 1/2 - 2 months to develop. It's really short development time but we managed to deliver it.

PC Arms (modeled, sculpted and textured) - 3 days

Props (modeled, sculpted, textured, rigged and animated) - 1 week

Speed Sculpting - Clint Eastwood Caricature

Around 1 hr 30 min sculpting. It's loosely based on a drawing that my co-worker, David Boudreau, made. You can check his original drawing here . Not quite happy how it turned out. I'll probably keep working on it.

Primal Carnage - Some Texture Works

Sorry for the lack of update but I thought I'd share you the upcoming project my friends and I have been working on our spare time (the project was announced recently). I work mainly as Texture Artist on this project. I textured the tyrannosaurus, dilophosaurus, pteranodon, all the weapons and some props in the game. Make sure you all check out the project on the Mod DB and the official website HERE .

2009 Comicon Challenge - The Magdalena

This year I decided to model Magdalena from Witchblade universe. The goal is to make her stylized like in the comics with more superhero body proportion (and to represent Top Cow Comics of course). The full progress can be viewed HERE

The Process

2D Sketch - 1 day

3D Sketch - 4/5 days

I usually start with concept art but this time I decided to jump right into 3D sketch first since I already know what I want to do on the model. But I'll do some sketches later when I'm not too occupied. I spent a lot of time on this stage to make sure that I get the proportion and the look of the character right.
